How To Use Mini-Bands To Switch On Your Muscles And Maximise Your Workout
This month I’m relaunching my Mini Bands and I can’t wait for you guys to start training, AND seeing results with them. My A-list clients swear by them and no Twenty Two Training workout is complete without them. Here’s 10 reasons to build them into your regime…
1) Increasing lean muscle mass and toning up the body is all about resistance training, the mini-bands allow you to do this anytime, anywhere. It’s like lifting weights or doing kettle bells (Only you can pop them in your pocket) the resistance of the band works your muscles building strength and shape
2) You can really target the muscles you want to work and feel it working. The connection between what you’re doing, and what you’re feeling is incredibly satisfying and motivating, especially for the workout phoebes out there. Just try band walking and you’ll know exactly what i’m talking about!
3) Whether you’re a beginner, or a big gym workout kinda person, you can use the mini bands before and during to switch on your muscles, and activate them to make sure you get the most out of your workout.
4) They’re a brilliant, no-shower-required way to workout in the middle of the day. Cram a 20 minutes mini band session into your lunch hour three times a week and you’ll feel the burn and shape up without sweating…
5) The beauty of mini bands is that they force your body to hold perfect form while doing the workouts, which means that as you’re doing leg exercises, you’ll also be toning your stomach and core at the same time.
6) And they help to strengthen your back and improve posture. People always go straight to weights and rowing but mini-bands force you to hold your postural muscles creating a long, lean posture. Your shoulders are pulled back, your chest is out and your muscles have to work harder, for longer.
7) On the same note, mini-bands can really help to prevent injury when working out, and strengthen your core or a weak back. Hip extensions with the band around your knees is an exercise everyone’s back can benefit from. Especially if you’re lifting weights or kettle bells…
8) I’m always asked to tone up the back of my female clients arms (Such a tricky spot) some of the best results in this area come from arm workouts with the mini band. Try a reverse tricep extensions using the bands as resistance. You’ll feel the burn and see the results…
9) One of my favourite ways to use the bands is when I’m stretching out my clients. If you struggle to go deep into stretches because of tight muscles, the bands are an amazing tool to help you spend longer in the stretch and allow you to go that bit further helping to elongate tight, short, muscles.
10) Finally, I know it can be confusing using fitness equipment at home and hard to know if you’’re getting it right. That’s the reason each of the three levels of mini-band (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced) have a step-by-step programme to guide you through a fool-proof workout that tones the whole body.
